Month 8 of our Alfa Romeo Stelvio long-term test: the verdict is in Living with an Alfa Romeo for a few months has been a real pleasure. I'm a naturally cynical person, but even I can't help

Owners told us they love the way their cars look and drive, but reliability seems to be a weakness - some 28.6% of Alfa owners reported at least one fault within the first year of ownership. With this backdrop, I recently bought both a 2019 Giulia Ti and 2019 Stelvio Ti Sport. The Giulia had 11k mi and the Stelly had 7k miles. Paid $34k for the Giulia and $40k for the Stelly. Given they were both purchased after the chip shortage began, it's hard to say where they will end up in a few years. 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Ti Sport, Trofeo White with Red interior, all tech options. Zero Reliability problems except bad battery (well known issue). My last Alfa I changed the battery myself and no more issue, but I do understand that most of time these are covered under warranty. Neither has broken down, however the Civic - from new - burned between 1 and 2 quarts of oil between every oil change, the Stelvio doesn't. As an added bonus the Stelvio is easier to do my own maintenance on also, simply because there is more room under the hood.

Go as new as you can, no CarPlay/android auto in 2017. I have 14k on my 2019 Stelvio and no issues yet. 2020 gets a new infotainment User Interface. Never said that I know it'll break down but it doesn't take a nuclear physicists to type in Alfa Romeo reliability on google and see what comes up. Not all Alfa's or Giulias specifically
